San Francisco, CA — (SBWIRE) — 07/12/2013 — Houzz, a new platform for finding ideas for home remodeling and locating professionals in a user’s area to make their ideas come to life, is adding a bout of reality to homeowners wanting to to redo their homes. The company currently has 14 million users on a monthly basis and recently surveyed over 100,000 homeowners in the US about their current projects.
The data that Houzz used from the survey showed that half of the homeowners who started a renovation project either didn’t have a budget to begin with or went over the budget they had originally set.
Tools for the app include what a room’s remodeling will cost in their area and breaks down the average for what it would cost to get it done based on low, middle and top third most expensive renovations. In addition, the app takes thousands of home remodeling photos for users to see examples of what their renovations could look like and provide the pros and cons of different remodeling options.
For right now, the tool is only available on the Houzz website, but the company is working with mobile app developers to bring all the features through its currently limited, but highly popular, mobile apps.
